Upon arrival at Delhi International Airport, meet the representative in the arrival lounge with a paging board and transfer to the hotel. Early check-in is subject to availability, with regular hotel check-in at 1400 hrs. The journey begins with the scheduled flight and arrival arrangements in Delhi.
Arrive overnight in Delhi, complete border formalities, and transfer to the hotel. Later visit Humayun's Mausoleum, set in a beautiful garden, followed by lunch at a restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Jama Masjid, walk through Old Delhi, pass Gurudwara Seesh Ganj, explore the spice market, return by rickshaw through Balli Maran, see the Red Fort from outside, and visit Gurudwara Bangla Sahib before returning to the hotel.
Visit the Qutub Minar archaeological park, known for the 72-meter-high 13th-century Tower of Victory. Later depart for Jaipur with lunch at a restaurant en route. Arrive in the late afternoon in Jaipur, the Pink City and capital of Rajasthan, check in to the hotel, and enjoy dinner.
Travel to Amber, the former Rajput capital, and visit Man Singh Fort, ascending. Stop for photographs at the Palace of the Winds, known for its red sandstone façade of finely crafted niches and windows. After lunch, visit City Palace, the royal museum, audience courtyard, and Jai Singh II Astrological Observatory, followed by a stroll through Jaipur's bazaar.
Depart for Agra with stops at Abhaneri to see Chand Baori, an 11-storey 9th-century stepwell near Harsha Mata Temple, and Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar's imperial capital abandoned for Lahore in 1585. Continue to Agra, known for its Mughal monuments and pietra dura inlay work, and check in at the hotel.
Visit Agra Fort, an immense 1565 structure overlooking the Yamuna River, and the Mausoleum of Itimad-ud-Daulah, an elegant marble monument with pietra dura decoration built by Empress Nur Jahan. After lunch at the hotel, visit the Taj Mahal, India's most famous monument, built by Shah Jahan in memory of Mumtaz Mahal.
Transfer to the railway station for the express train to Jhansi, then continue to Orchha, once the capital of the Bundela Rajas. Visit the royal palaces located on an island in the Betwa River. After lunch at Amar Mahal Hotel, continue by road to Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, check in, and enjoy dinner.
In the early morning, visit the Western Group of Khajuraho temples, built by the Chandela rulers between 950 and 1100 and known for their exceptional sculpture. Later depart for Prayagraj with a picnic lunch provided by the hotel. Arrive in Prayagraj, check in to the hotel, and enjoy dinner.
Visit Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. See Allahabad Fort and the Hindu temple from outside before departing for Varanasi, the holy city of Shiva on the banks of the Ganges. Upon arrival, check in and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, take a scenic rickshaw ride to the ghats to attend evening prayers.
Return to the riverbanks early in the morning for a dawn boat ride on the sacred Ganges, observing pilgrims, rituals, and the palaces of the maharajas along the shore. Walk through the alleys of the ancient city before returning to the hotel. Later transfer to the airport for the flight to Kolkata, possibly via Delhi, and transfer to the hotel on arrival.
Enjoy a full day of sightseeing in Kolkata, including Howrah Bridge, the Flower Market, Dalhousie Square, Raj Bhawan, St. John's Church, the Supreme Court, General Post Office, Victoria Memorial, Indian Museum, College Street, the orphanage, and Mother Teresa's House. Lunch is served at a local restaurant and dinner at the hotel.
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Aurangabad via Mumbai. Snacks are served on board. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel for check-in, dinner, and overnight stay.
Take a full-day excursion to Ajanta, 112 km from Aurangabad, to visit the 29 rock-cut Buddhist caves, monasteries, and chapels decorated with high-quality murals dating from the 2nd century BC to the 7th century AD. The finest paintings are found in caves 1, 2, 16, and 17. Packed lunch is included before returning to Aurangabad.
Visit Ellora, a complex of cave temples and monasteries carved between the 6th and 11th centuries AD. The site includes Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain caves, with the Kailasha Temple considered one of India's most extraordinary works of art. Return for lunch, then transfer to the airport for the flight to Mumbai and check in on arrival.
Take a motorboat ride across Mumbai Bay to Elephanta Island, home to ancient caves excavated between 450 and 750 AD with magnificent statues, subject to sea conditions. Return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy an orientation tour of Mumbai, including Victorian Gothic architecture, Crawford Market, and key city landmarks.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your scheduled flight to Italy. The Great Journey to India ends with memories of Delhi, Rajasthan, Mughal Agra, Bundela heritage, Khajuraho, Varanasi, Kolkata, Ajanta, Ellora, Mumbai, and India's diverse cultural landscapes.
